MEET THE PENN SOCCER ACADEMY STAFF

CAMP DIRECTOR   

Darren Ambrose has led the women’s soccer program at Penn to new heights in his 12 year stint.  He is the soccer program’s all-time winningest coach at 119-61-27 (41-28-14 mark vs. Ivy League competition), and he has never had a losing season with the Quakers. He has coached the team’s first All-America, NSCAA Scholar All-America, CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year, Ivy League Player of the Year and 2 Ivy League Rookies of the Year. In addition, he brought Penn all three of its Ivy League Championships with the most recent coming last season with his 2nd in 4 years.
His coaching success is not limited to his collegiate career. Ambrose’s coaching in the community has led to two National Championships with EPYSA ODP teams as well as State Cup titles in youth soccer with club teams in Memphis, where his coaching career began.  He currently serves as the head coach for the Penn Fusion U-17 girls’ team.  He has also coached in the professional ranks as the goalkeeper coach for the WUSA’s Philadelphia Charge during the league’s run in 2001-2003.

ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR

Masuhr came to Penn from Monmouth University, where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Hawks' women's soccer program. His first season, Monmouth won the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Championship first round. Masuhr worked with the Hawks' defensive unit, and had two players earn NSCAA all-region honors in 2009 (Ali Kliment, Lia Fierro). Kliment also was named the NEC Defender of the Year in 2009. Masuhr is also heavily involved in the youth soccer scene in New Jersey. Currently, he is an assistant coach with New Jersey's under-17 Girls' Olympic Development Program team, which won the regional championship in 2010 and 2011.  Masuhr graduated from Richard Stockton with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and he also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Kean University. As a coach, Masuhr has a "B" license from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) as well as the Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

“A camp is only as good as its staff,” and Penn Soccer Academy prides itself on the professional, experienced staff that in addition to Camp Director Darren Ambrose, will teach, evaluate and motivate our campers to reach their potential.
Our camper-to-staff ratio of 8:1 guarantees that each camper will receive individual feedback within the group environment.  Each camper will also receive a written evaluation by their staff coach at the end of the week.
The following coaches are or have been a part of our staffing for our overnight camps.  In addition, college players from the Penn and many other women’s collegiate programs will serve as role models, counselors and chaperones.
